About the Data Journalist / Housing Analyst role
ResiClub is looking for a Data Journalist / Housing Analyst to help manage and grow the ResiClub Terminal—our core data product and the engine behind our housing market coverage. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, housing market analysis, and data journalism: you'll be the person who helps keep our metrics accurate and current, builds the pipelines that make that possible, and turns raw housing data into charts, rankings, and stories that readers actually use.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable in R/Python and in a Google Spreadsheets—someone who wants to both build the data infrastructure and write some data articles out of it.
Where
Cincinnati, OH; New York, NY, or remote
What You'll Do
ResiClub Terminal. Help manage our research terminal and its core outputs sourcing data, refreshing files on a regular cadence, checking for accuracy, and keeping methodology consistent across 100+ metrics.
Write. Produce data-driven articles on the housing market—inventory, home prices, migration, homebuilding, affordability, investor and Build-to-Rent activity, and more.
Build and maintain data pipelines. Write and maintain R/Python scripts to process large historical housing datasets and publish results at the national, state, metro, county, and ZIP-code level.
Design original research. Write survey questions, structure response options, field surveys, analyze results, and turn findings into charts and publishable insights.
Analyze market trends. Use R/Python and Excel to analyze housing market data and translate results into charts, rankings, written insights, presentations, and reports.
Track the housing sector. Pull and review SEC filings (10-Ks, 10-Qs, earnings decks) from publicly traded housing companies, extracting key takeaways on strategy, demand, costs, incentives, and guidance to inform research write-ups.
What We're Looking For
Proficiency in R and/or Python for data processing, and comfort working in Excel for analysis and modeling
Experience working with large, messy datasets and turning them into clean, reliable, repeatable outputs
Solid writing skills—you can turn a dataset into a clear, accurate, readable story
A solid grasp of housing market fundamentals (inventory, pricing, affordability, construction, migration, investor activity) or a demonstrated ability to get up to speed quickly
Comfortable with working in a startup
Experience reading and synthesizing SEC filings or other financial/corporate disclosures is a plus
Survey design and analysis experience is a plus
Very high attention to detail—this role is directly responsible for the accuracy of data. Housing stakeholders are making big decisions using our analysis—we gotta be right.
Self-directed and comfortable owning a body of work end-to-end, from raw data to published output
Why This Role
You'll have direct ownership over a widely-used data product and a front-row seat to the U.S. housing market. Your work—the metrics you maintain, the surveys you run, the stories you write —will be read by homebuilders, investors, journalists, and industry professionals who rely on ResiClub for accurate, timely housing analysis.
